“I think of my work as a critique of human‑centered ways of seeing nature. Ideas often begin with a walk in the woods or a fleeting glimpse of a housing development through a rain‑streaked car window. In the studio, I combine painting and drawing with sculpture and natural materials sourced from my surroundings to create hybrid objects that blur the line between two‑ and three‑dimensional art.”

Les idées naissent souvent d'une promenade en forêt ou de l'aperçu d'un projet immobilier à travers la vitre d'une voiture mouillée par la pluie. À l'atelier, je combine peinture et dessin avec la sculpture et des matériaux naturels recueillis dans mon environnement pour créer des objets hybrides qui brouillent la frontière entre l'art bidimensionnel et tridimensionnel. »

Alyson Champ is a multidisciplinary artist from rural southwest Québec whose practice spans painting, assemblage, collage, and installation. Her work examines the complex relationship between humans and the natural world from a settler perspective, with particular attention to overlooked ecosystems and places where agriculture, industry, and wilderness converge.
Alyson Champ’s work has been widely presented in solo and group exhibitions in a variety of art spaces and regional museums, as well as in unconventional venues such as agricultural fairgrounds and warehouses. Champ studied painting and drawing at the Saidye Bronfman Centre School, and she holds an Honours degree in philosophy from Concordia University (1993). She has received multiple awards, including grants from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) and the Canada Council for the Arts.
Alyson Champ est une artiste multidisciplinaire originaire du sud-ouest rural du Québec dont la pratique englobe la peinture, l'assemblage, le collage et l'installation. Son travail examine la relation complexe entre les humains et le monde naturel d'un point de vue colon, en portant une attention particulière aux écosystèmes négligés ainsi qu'aux lieux où l'agriculture, l'industrie et la nature se croisent.
Les œuvres d'Alyson Champ ont été largement présentées lors d'expositions individuelles et collectives dans divers lieux culturels et musées régionaux, ainsi que dans des espaces atypiques tels que des foires agricoles et des entrepôts. Champ a étudié la peinture et le dessin au Saidye Bronfman Centre School et détient un baccalauréat spécialisé en philosophie de l'Université Concordia (1993). Elle est lauréate de plusieurs distinctions, dont des bourses du Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) et du Conseil des arts du Canada.
